Welcome to Summit, New Jersey, a small and upscale town located just 20 miles from Manhattan. Its breathtaking estates and single family homes are much sought after and it also offers an mixture of townhomes and condos. Summit offers beautiful views of the New York City skyline as well as lush and luxurious landscaping and tree-lined streets throughout the town. Its vibrant and bustling downtown offers a walkable environment filled with unique boutiques and upscale shops and a multitude of restaurants and coffee bars which gives it a quaint small-town feel. Summit offers its residents a wealth of amenities including a train direct to Manhattan.


Commuting from Summit


Public Transport to New York City is available through the New Jersey Transit. There are two different rail lines: The Morristown Line and Gladstone Branch Line. The Morristown Line is also known as The "Midtown Direct" which travels straight to Penn Station 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan without any transfers and takes about 38 minutes. The Gladstone Branch Line provides service to Hoboken and Newark with two direct trains into Penn Station 34th Street.

For those who prefer to travel by bus, the Lakeland Bus line offers Summit residents bus service from Summit to New York City Port Authority station on the West Side of Midtown Manhattan. For those who prefer to travel by ferry, the train can be taken to Hoboken where the New York Waterway Ferry is available for a short trip to Wall Street - this takes somewhat over an hour.

Drivers have easily accessible highways which include I-78, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Newark Liberty International Airport is within a 20 minute drive of Summit making it the perfect place for those who need international or domestic travel.


Summit Schools


Summit's schools have a strong reputation for academic and athletic excellence. Their website sums up their approach: "The Summit Public Schools, in partnership with the Community, will support and sustain an excellent system of learning that engages all students in compelling work; educates them to their highest intellectual, creative and individual potential; promotes pride in diversity; and results in responsible and productive citizens of the highest integrity." What else is there to say?

There are five elementary schools within the district (Brayton, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln Hubbard, and Washington), and then there is LCJ Middle School and Summit High School. Summit also boast two pre-schools for early childhood learning, Jefferson Primary Center and Wilson Primary Center.


Dining in Summit


There's no need to be hungry in Summit with its vast and varied assortment of restaurants. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor dining, the latter adding to the town's cosmopolitan and sophisticated vibe. Whether you are looking for casual dining, international or upmarket dining, it's all available - there's something for everyone!
